Summary of Major Job Functions:
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
- Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients.
Supervises others on assigned care team: RNs, Patient Care Technicians
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: ADN preparation; BSN preferred
State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or Graduate Nurse Permit required. National certification in specialty practice area highly encouraged.
Experience: Less than one year
Skills: Progressive care level nursing knowledge and skills; delegation and supervision; team-leading;
Physical & Environmental Demands:
Physical Demands: On feet/walks 8 or more hours a day. Assumes and maintains various postural positions including but not limited to kneeling, reaching, squatting, climbing, bending/twisting neck and/or waist, lifting or moving patients, transferring patients, and carrying or pus! hing/pulling objects/equipment.
Environmental Dema! nds: On occasion, extended hours/shifts, extreme hot/cold, noise, vibration, exposure to chemicals, protective equipment required, potential exposure to infectious diseases, potential exposure to demanding situations/people.

Patient Advocacy: Works on behalf of the patient/family representing their concerns and helps resolve ethical and clinical issues that impact the patient situation.
Caring Practices: Incorporates nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive and therapeutic environment for patients and staff with the aim! of promoting comfort and healing and preventing unnecessary suffering.
Collaboration: Involves multidisciplinary team as well as patient/family to promote optimal and realistic goals and outcomes.
Systems Thinking: Manages environmental and system resources across the healthcare system and community to meet patient/family needs or provision of quality care.
