Responsibilities*

The Department of Speech Language Pathology is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist Intermediate/Senior. The position is responsible for evaluating and treating pediatric patients with speech, voice, language, cognitive-communicative and oral-pharyngeal swallowing disorders.

Duties:

• Evaluate children with speech, language, voice, cognitive-communicative and

feeding/swallowing disorders.

• Design and implement treatment programs to facilita! te improved communication and

swallowing skills.

• Counsel patients and their families regarding communication and swallowing development,

impairment and opportunities for stimulating improvement.

• Provide documentation of evaluation data, test/re-test data and speech-language progress, in

accordance with insurance and regulatory agency requirements.

• Maintain departmental standards of clinical productivity.
• Provide patients and families with recommendations and referrals to appropriate health care

sources.

• Provide assistance to medical and rehabilitation team members regarding methods for

facilitating a patient's understanding and use of language to achieve maximum understanding

of medical information and rehabilitation techniques.

• Participate in staff meetings regarding individual patients with physicians, nurses, i! nsurance

representative and allied health professionals

(Please note that this is a 20/hour week appointment.)

Required Qualifications*

• A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is necessary.
• A Certification of Clinical Competence, awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing

Association (ASHA) is required

• Eligibility for Michigan licensure is required
• Progressively complex experience in the evaluation children with communication and

swallowing disorders

• Previous experience evaluating and treating children with autism is desired
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• This position requires frequent standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or

transferring of patients.
