Job Description:
Responsible and accountable for the practice of Professional Nursing, including the nursing management of the patient and staff of assigned area in his/her charge.
Manages efficient patient flow, appropriate use of supplies and other operational functions.
Collaborates with the unit managers and/or directors in developing and revising unit policies, procedures, and protocols. Serves as departmental liaison and first line of contact with patients, providers and staff.
Adheres to policies and procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
Manages the patient care process of ensuring that a comprehensive patient assessment and plan of care is completed and documental on all patients within ! the time frame of the established policy.
Manages sta! ff members, assesses the needs of patients, and delegates tasks appropriately.
Facilitates in the development of a unit level plan for financial and personnel resources required to provide the needed services for each shift.
Demonstrates accountability for professional practice. Serves as a role model to staff, preceptor and/or mentor. Assumes responsibility for care provided by non-RN members of the nursing team.
Collaborates with other healthcare team members to generate new ides for quality improvement with regards to administration, patient care, and overall functioning of the department.
Responsible for completing basic RN competencies in addition to departmental specific competencies.
Demonstrates quality improvement, facilitating the generation of ides for improvement of patient care and functioning of the unit.
Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested.
Communicates and listen! s effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge.
Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to ââ¬Å"serviceââ¬.
Requirements:
Education
Minimum: Associateââ¬â¢s Degree or Diploma of Nursing
Desired: Bachelorââ¬â¢s Degree in Nursing; Certification in clinical specialty.
Technical/Formal Training
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Supervision/Management knowledge and experience; Clinical/Specialty expertise; strong conflict resolution skills; ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Experience
One (1) year of Charge Nurse experience in hospital setting OR more than one year of clinical or management experience.
Licensure
Minimum: CPR; RN License in State of NM or valid multi-state compact license;
Desired: National Certification in specialty care
