Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator the incumbent will be primarily responsible for coordinating two clinical studies conducted among pregnant women and their newborns at the University of New Mexico hospital. The incumbent will work closely with UNM-affiliated providers and the Clinical and Translational Sciences Center (CTSC) research nurses to identify, screen, consent, and enroll patients into the study. The study coordinator will also be responsible for flagging and following up the patients throughout the study. He/she will also coordinate all study-related procedures, including administration of structured questionnaires and collection of biological specimens, ncluding but not limited to blood, urine, and placenta. He/she will work closely with the study consultants and co-Investigators, laboratory personnel, and research nurses. The incumbent will also be responsible for processing the paperwork related to human research, including UNM HRRC human subjects applications, amendments, and closure reports.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Screen and determine eligibility of potential research subjects. 2. Administer structured patient interviews. 3. Collects, processes, and bank or catalog biological specimens according to established protocol as appropriate to the specific objectives of the research study. 4. Prepare and submit HRRC paperwork for approval of human subjects research activities. 5. Plans and organizes day-to-day on-site research activities, and resolves procedural and logistical problems as appropriate to the timely completion of research activities. 6. Monitors and maintains inventories of equipment and supplies for day-to-day study purposes as required, within budget parameters. 7. Ensures that appropriate procedures and standards for the collection and preservation of biological specimens and samples are adhered to. 8. May participate in and/or contribute to the publication and/or presentation of results, and the development of grant proposals. 9. Develop PowerPoint presentations of research findings. 10. Assist with data management. 11. Assist in manuscript and abstract preparation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required 1. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of subjects. 2. Knowledge of safety procedures and standards for the handling and processing of hazardous biological specimens and/or materials. 3. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. 4. Ability to utilize computerized statistical and/or scientific database and analysis applications to manage research data 5. Knowledge of field research and data collection principles, methods, and techniques. 6. Outstanding organizational skills. 7. Outstanding communication skills (both written and oral). 8. Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and critical thinking.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Fluenecy in oral and written Spanish. 2. Prior research experience, especially with multi-faceted clinical studies. 3. Prior experience with collecting, processing, and analyzing human biological specimens. 4. Experience interacting with TriCore Reference Lab, UNM HSC Clinical and Transnational Science Center. 5. Prior experience working with UNM nurses and laboratory personnel. 6. Prior experience with database management. 7. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and deadline-oriented environment.
