Position Summary:
The Clinical Translational Science Center (CTSC) is a member of the national Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) consortium, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). "Translational" science implies translating research into practice through the cycle of "bench" (traditional lab research) to "bedside" (clinical trials in patients) to "Community" (actual adoption in larger systems). The CTSC promotes the expansion of clinical research and emergence of community voice in the direction and implementation of clinical research. This position will plan, develop, and oversee the day-to-day clinical activities for a specified clinical trials initiative and/or oth! er medical research program in accordance with the research pa! rameters established by the investigator. Develops and administers operating procedures for the project, coordinates project funding and day-to-day interactions with associated departments and agencies, and oversees patient recruitment, education, and administration. Coordinates implementation and execution of study protocol, and oversees all aspects of the provision of patient care to participants, in compliance with protocol requirements. The CTSC grant is currently in the third year of a 5-year award. The CTSC plans to submit a competitive renewal application in 2014. TERM APPOINTMENT ; FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 03/31/2014; CONTINUANCE BEYOND THAT DATE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 3 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description. OR Bachelor's degree in Nursing; at least 1 year of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description. State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with New Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications:
Basic Life Support certified. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples using established protocols. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to supervise and train employees, to inclu! de organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability t! o foster a cooperative work environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Records maintenance skills. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Knowledge of the principles and procedures of clinical research. Knowledge of clinical and/or surgical facilities, instruments, and equipment. Employee development and performance management skills. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements as they pertain to clinical research. Ability to recruit, evaluate, and instruct clinical research subjects and volunteers. Ability to draw blood, administer IVs, and perform standard nursing procedures. Knowledge of ethical principles and federal and state regulations governing the participation of human subjects in biomedical research. Knowledge of project budgeting and fiscal management. Knowledge of FDA regulations. May be required! to work flex hours, as required by study. May need to drive off-site to see patients, as required by study. Experience with submitting documentation to the IRB Fluent in Spanish
