Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Duties:

  • Advance the role and goals of Central New Mexico Community College.
  • Effectively teach and assess student learning in courses assigned.
  • Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
  • Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes.
  • Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
  • Convene classes! on time and as scheduled.
  • Provide assistance and res! pond to students within 48 hours.
  • Incorporate, as pedagogically appropriated, current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments.
  • Maintain student records (i.e. grades, attendance) and provide documentation for incompletes within established College timelines.
  • Complete assigned duties, reports and other required documentation on time.
  • Attend in-service sessions and college/school/department meetings as requested.
  • Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college / school / department processes.
  • Provide for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Abide by all college policies and regulations.
Program Specific Duties:
  • Instructs, supervises and evaluates nursing students according to course and program objectives in local hea! lth care facilities and school's nursing learning laboratories.
  • Participates in team teaching, nursing committee meetings, and nursing faculty meetings.
  • Office hours for each course taught at the campus hosting the course.
  • Meet administrative deadlines as assigned by the department or institute.
  • Attendance at required meetings.
Professional Development:
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in field; maintain current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies.
To ensure compliance with federal and college requirements some mandatory training must be completed for this position.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a minimum of t! wo (2) years recent clinical experience (Elective clinical nursing cour! ses at the senior level MAY be considered for recent clinical experience).
  • Preference will be given to BSN candidates who are within six months of graduation from a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.
  • BSN applicants without a MSN will be required to begin work on a MSN within the first three years of employment.
  • Must be licensed (unrestricted) or be eligible for licensure in New Mexico as a registered nurse.
Preferences:
Preference Requirements:
  • Master's in Nursing from an accredited institution with a focus in medical-surgical, maternal-child, psychiatric-mental health, or pediatric nursing.
  • Previous teaching experience in nursing education.
  • Working knowledge of current developments in the field.
  • Current community college experience.
  • Ability to relate to and instruct a non-traditional, diverse student population.

Schedule ma! y include days, evenings, and/or weekends, as assigned and as needed. Schedule will vary from term to term.

This position reports to the Associate Dean for Allied Health and Diagnostics Programs of the School of Health, Wellness, and Public Safety. Instructors provide excellent instruction to achieve high academic standards in a supportive, student-centered, community college environment. Instructors employ a variety of teaching methods in order to achieve student success. In addition to teaching duties, which are outlined in detail above, instructors will maintain contact with the associate dean, maintain a high level of contact with faculty in their discipline, support and attend meetings, and perform other duties as assigned. Successful completion of job duties and responsibilities requires computer literacy.

College, School,! Program/Discipline Service includes the following:

An instruc! tor is responsible for providing high quality instruction so that each student may meet course outcomes. An instructor is also responsible for working with the associate dean and colleagues to improve student learning experiences. CNM respects, requires, and depends on the service part-time faculty members perform.

Instructors must meet the learning needs of a diverse student population, prepare lessons, grade exams, and conduct office hours. Assist in curriculum development and perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsible for developing and teaching in classroom laboratory, and clinical settings. Evaluation of students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Assist in curriculum development; meet administrative deadlines and requests for student data/assessment as assigned by the department or the institute, and other related duties as assigned.

Instruction of one or more courses at assigned campuses and clinical sites; office h! ours for each course taught at the campus hosting the course; meet administrative deadlines as assigned by the department or college; attendance at required meetings.
