Correctional Healthcare Companies is currently seeking RN's for Full-Time positions at San Juan County Detention Center.
Essential Job Duties:
Assesses and identifies health problems of new inmates and initiates medical records and special needs care plans. Administers prescribed treatment and medication to patients as needed and medically required Responsible for responding to day to day medical issues with patients Respond to medical emergencies within the required 4 minutes time period and supervises the emergency scene as required. Prepares medical equipment and assists Physician or PA during examination and treatment. Documents medical history, training and treatment of patients, using standard medical records procedures. Provides sound pharmacology practices, including drug action, side effects and proper dosage. Documents all prescription drug use for patients according to established drug recordkeeping practices. Prepares IV therapy central lines and IV antibiotics are required. Meets regularly with the H.S.A./DON/Site Manager to review medical services administered to patients. May serve as Charge Nurse or Acting Supervisor in the absence of the H.S.A./DON/Site Manager. Actively participates in cost containment measures. Maintains confidentiality and security of health records and protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA requirements. Is aware of emergency procedures in the event of emergency or crisis situations and the appropriate plan of action governed by triage and written guidelines. Capable of giving CPR instructions and able to take charge in a CPR emergency. Educates patients with regard to diet, hygiene and methods of prevention of disease. Provides clear and concise communication (written and verbal) to coworkers, supervisors, jail administration and patients Maintain positive work relationships with all coworkers, supervisors, jail administration and inmates. Willing to assist coworkers in job duties and work overtime if required. May act as a resource to other coworkers.
